Car insurance Gender Neutral Pricing
Insurers take into account many different factors when determining prices for car insurance quotes to ensure that each one reflects the customers' individual circumstances. Gender is one such factor. Statistical differences between male and female drivers, like the frequency of claims and the costs to settle them, have long been used by insurers to help calculate the risks of covering a particular driver.
You may have heard the news that in March 2011 the European Court of Justice ruled that all insurers are no longer able to use gender as a factor when pricing insurance. This new legislation, which is known as the Gender Directive, takes effect from the 21st December 2012.
You can be assured that from the 21st December when you get a car insurance quote, purchase a new policy or renew an existing one with us, we won't take into account whether you're male or female when calculating your price.
The new ruling does not affect the cover we provide in any way.
You'll still benefit from the peace of mind our insurance offers, at a price which is tailored exclusively for you.
